Many of the women of the community are in arranged, polygamous marriages where the husband is often unemployed and unable to provide for all, if any, of his wives. Many of these wives must depend on their own resources to ensure that their children have food and can attend school. Beaded jewelry is their means to support themselves and their children. Kenya’s Kidz supports these women by purchasing the beautiful beaded items they make. This jewelry is intricately handmade in colorful designs and crafted in the traditional methods. They include simple to elaborate necklaces and bracelets, safari animals, key chains, and many more.
