While Kenya’s Kidz focuses on orphaned and at risk children, we also care about the elderly widows of the community, especially those who have taken on the responsibility of caring for their grandchildren and/or have little or no support. These precious women welcome us into their dung huts with open arms.
Kenya’s Kidz makes regular visits to these ladies with gifts of food, shoes, shukas (blankets), and other needed items. Namayiana kids are included during these visitations, to not only learn about giving to others but to also listen to the elders’stories of earlier times and traditional ways. It’s a perfect combination to connect the older generation with the younger generation, both of whom have lost their families.
