Scott and Gloria traveled yearly to Kenyan villages and schools to teach HIV/AIDS prevention. Moved by the growing number of orphaned children, they shifted their focus to caring for them, working in homes, schools, and community centers.
The Schartons, invited by a Maasai community, designed and built Namayiana Children’s Home (“The Blessed”). Within six months the home was built, and the first seven children moved in.
A well was drilled, solar lights and electricity installed, and a new boys’ and staff wing was built. A greenhouse, livestock, and a playground were added. Two children began high school, and the kids now numbered 30.
Namayiana moves to a larger property down the road. Two children graduated from high school and started college.
Thirty children are being well cared for and are reaching for their potential at Namayiana Children’s Home.
